Caribbean District prepares for 2026 Hurricane Season with multi-day exercise
Federal personnel from FEMA joined the National Weather Service and the U.S. Coast Guard to take part in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Caribbean District’s 2026 Hurricane Tabletop Exercise in San Juan, Puerto Rico, June 9–10. The exercised rehearsed coordinated actions for a simulated Category 3 storm affecting Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The two-day exercise underscored the Corps’ ability to surge staff, technical capabilities, and resources across districts to maintain continuity of operations and provide timely support to FEMA and local governments during major disasters. The exercise reaffirmed that hurricane preparedness in the Caribbean strengthened the district’s readiness for future storm response.
