Environmental
As the nation’s environmental engineer, USACE leads efforts to restore ecosystems, manage natural resources, and remediate contaminated sites. The Environmental mission encompasses large-scale restoration projects, regulatory oversight to protect wetlands, and cleanup of hazardous waste through programs such as Formerly Used Defense Sites and Superfund (FUDS).
USACE also supports sustainable construction and compliance with environmental laws across military and civil works projects. Guided by our
Environmental Operating Principles
, USACE integrates stewardship and sustainability into every mission to protect both people and the planet.
